SCMA Membership and Insurance: Upcoming Changes from 1 April 2022

SCMA Membership and Insurance: Upcoming Changes from 1 April 2022
From 1 April 2022, SCMA membership will automatically be inclusive of SCMA Practitioner Insurance to cover your childminding activities. In addition, you will also benefit from an enhanced range of membership features.

SCMA is continually looking to provide best value for members and is changing insurance provider. This means that the way we provide insurance will change, and from 1 April 2022 members will pay a single fee for membership (including SCMA Practitioner Insurance) rather than paying SCMA separately for membership and insurance.

This means that, from 1 April 2022 your SCMA membership renewal (which automatically includes SCMA’s Practitioner Insurance) will cost £95 for the year – which is only a £5 increase on the combined costs from last year while providing enhanced coverage. For new members joining SCMA the cost is £112, which is once again only a £5 increase on last year’s rate.

These changes to SCMA membership don’t impact on your level of cover, and you’ll get access to even more benefits and features than before. There is no urgent action required from you - we are striving to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible for members.

  • If you are due to renew before 1 April 2022, your insurance will remain unchanged, and you will remain with our current insurance provider for the full year. Plus, you will also benefit from the new additional membership benefits, which come into effect from 1 April 2022.
  • If you are due to renew on or after 1 April 2022, your SCMA membership will automatically include SCMA Practitioner Insurance as standard, and you will also be able to access the new additional membership benefits, which come into effect from 1 April 2022.
All members will soon receive an email notification from SCMA, to advise of the change and how it will impact on you. Please check your inbox for an email from SCMA for full details.

Will the insurance coverage still meet my needs?
SCMA Practitioner Insurance will provide the same level of cover as our existing policy, with additional benefits also included to ensure you get the most from your SCMA membership. Read the POLICY SUMMARY.

How much will SCMA membership cost?
