Infection Prevention and Control Update

Infection Prevention and Control Update
NHS Health Protection Scotland has updated its guidance for ‘Infection Prevention and Control in Childcare Settings’ and the latest document is published for SCMA members to access online.

This guidance applies to all childcare facilities including childminders, and a further update – to bring the resource into line with the new National Health and Social Care Standards – and this is due to follow in 2019.

In the meantime, we wanted to call attention to a change in the guidance that childminders and all other daycare services should be aware of, regarding exclusion criteria and this is noted on page 20 of the document.

The current guidance has been updated regarding the exclusion criteria for chickenpox, German measles and scabies, which are all infections that childminders are likely to come across.

SCMA members can access the guidance document from the Membership Dashboard at childminding.org. Login to the Membership Dashboard now.

In addition, SCMA members can also access our ‘Infection Prevention and Control in Childcare Settings’ course as part of their Continuing Professional Learning (CPL). Find out more from Learn with SCMA or call our team on 01786 445377.
