Free Online Early Years Training Opportunities from the Scottish Government

Free Online Early Years Training Opportunities from the Scottish Government
The Scottish Government has a range of FREE online training opportunities that are specific to the early learning and childcare workforce.

The online training modules are open and available to all practitioners working with children in Scotland - not just those delivering funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC).

Although the modules are not specific to childminding, you may find them useful towards building on your Continuing Professional Learning (CPL) and supporting your practice.

Improving practice and seeking to achieve the best possible outcomes for children is what makes childminding such a high-quality service. As such, the professional growth of childminders is very important to SCMA, as well as the Scottish Government.

CPL is an essential component of quality care and is directly linked to children’s wellbeing and development. Together, we want a professional and skilled workforce with access to high quality training resources to help you deliver the best learning and childcare experience for children.

Find out more about the modules available to you, and how to access them HERE.

Our Learn with SCMA team offers more than 20 courses which are tailored specifically to childminders based in Scotland. Courses are available as online e-Learning or as Interactive/Virtual Learning.

All childminders are responsible for keeping their CPL up-to-date and for continually building on your on-going professional development. Our team has developed a range of learning resources to help childminders to build upon their existing skills and knowledge.

In addition, childminders delivering funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) must also follow the National Standard and allocate 12 hours per year to your CPL.
