Access to Covid-19 testing in Scotland has been widened to include a broader range of private sector workers and essential services, and includes childminders providing support for key worker families.
Testing is still targeted at key workers who are self-isolating because they are symptomatic, or have household members who are symptomatic, however, widening of access to testing will allow people experiencing symptoms to know if they have the virus, which helps to keep essential services running.
A new
self-referral portal is available online, established to improve the process of booking tests, is now available.
You can sign up to this if you are categorised as a key worker and you or a member of your family is experiencing symptoms.
Testing in Scotland is currently conducted in drive-through sites operating at Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh Airport, Aberdeen Airport and The University of Highlands and Island campus in Inverness.
Full guidance on the expansion of tests is available here
We would appreciate members’ feedback on your experiences of accessing the portal and obtaining access to tests, which will be reflected back to Scottish Government. To provide feedback on your experience, please email
