Care Inspectorate appoints a new Chief Executive
The new Chief Executive of the Care Inspectorate has been named as Peter Macleod.

Paul Edie, Chair, Care Inspectorate said: “I am delighted to confirm that Peter Macleod has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Care Inspectorate, following a detailed and rigorous recruitment process.

“Applications were received from a very high calibre of candidates and I am pleased that the recruitment process has concluded successfully. Ministers have approved this appointment and Peter will take up his new responsibilities in the New Year. I wish Peter all the best in his new role and look forward to working closely with him."

Peter Macleod added: "I am honoured to have been appointed as Chief Executive of the Care Inspectorate. I am aware that the organisation and staff play an important and vital role in protecting people who are vulnerable and who experience care.

"At a time of on-going change in the social care sector, we need to make sure we continue to provide public protection. It is also important that we continue to help drive improvement where care services are not providing safe, compassionate and high-quality care.

"I look forward to consolidating and building on the work of the organisation. My priority is to work in collaboration with staff, scrutiny partners, service providers, people who experience care services, and their families, and to improve outcomes for people across Scotland."

SCMA would like to congratulate Peter on his appointment and we look forward to working together and continuing to strengthen our close working relationship with the Care Inspectorate.
